The City Administrator is responsible for the administration of all affairs of the City and shall see that the laws and ordinances of the City are enforced. This position ensures all administrative aspects of the City of Douglass governmental functions are accomplished in an efficient, productive, and cost-effective manner. The City Administrator is appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council annually. They may make recommendations to the Governing Body on all matters concerning the welfare of the City and shall have a seat, but no vote, in all of the public meetings of the Governing Body. This position is responsible for all departments and staff except the City Attorney and Municipal Judge who are also appointed by the Governing Body.
DESIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Post-secondary coursework in public administration, business administration, accounting or related field preferred.
- Master of Public Administration preferred.
- 3 years of municipal management required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Considerable knowledge of modern policies, functions, procedures, operations and practices of public administration.
- Working knowledge of municipal finance, human resources, public works, public safety, and community development.
- Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with employees, city officials and the public.
- Skilled in managing multiple projects and prioritizing numerous tasks and demands.
- Thorough knowledge of principals of organization, management and supervision.
- Skilled in preparing and administering municipal budgets.
- Able to plan, direct and administer municipal programs.
- Ability to prepare and analyze comprehensive reports and carry out assigned projects to their completion.
