| 2025 Municipal Revenue Survey |
|
The 2025 Municipal Revenue Survey takes a close look at how cities across Kansas generate and manage their revenue. It explores the main sources of funding—like property and sales taxes, franchise fees, and user charges—and shows how these differ by city size, region, and type of government. The report also highlights new and emerging trends, such as local option taxes and digital service fees, giving city leaders a clear picture of how their peers are adapting to changing needs. With practical data, comparisons, and insights, this survey is designed to help Kansas communities plan smarter, strengthen financial stability, and share ideas for what works best. The information will also aid the League's advocacy efforts to construct policy analysis based on different perspectives of cities' financial environments. In 2025, 181 cities completed the entire survey. If you have any questions regarding the data contained in the survey, please contact Wendi Stark. If you participated in the survey, access to the data is free of charge. Cities can confirm participation in the link below. Contact the League for access to the password protected data.
Any League member city who did not participate in the survey, there is a $125 dollar fee to access the data. To order the survey click here .
