On Thursday, March 11, 2021 President Biden signed the American Rescue Plan (ARPA), providing $1.9 trillion in economic stimulus to assist in the long-term recovery from the economic and public health impacts related to the COVID-19 pandemic. The provisions of ARPA require the State of Kansas to distribute financial relief payments directly to non-entitlement units of local government (“NEUs” defined as cities with populations less than 50,000) on behalf of the federal government. Allocation amounts for NEUs are based on population proportionality and are capped at 75% of the 2020 budget (as of January 27, 2020). Allocations will be distributed in two separate payments with 50% distributed initially and the remainder to be distributed 12 months later. We will keep track of resources and information from the White House and the State of Kansas' Office of Recovery on this page as a clearinghouse for information for cities. The Latest News
