How to Advocate

Tips for Testifying

Become a Key Contact

A critical issue in the League of Kansas Municipalities Strategic Plan is to effectively promote the League’s advocacy agenda by increasing the engagement of city elected and appointed staff in advocating with legislators. To achieve this objective, the League created a program called Key Contacts to reach our state legislators during critical votes, committee meetings, hearings, and to attend League events.

If you or someone with the city has a working relationship with a legislator, we need your help.

Please complete this form so we will know who you are and who you will contact in the Kansas House or Senate.

Please reach out to Wendi Stark with any questions concerning this program.

Find Your Legislator

If you're interested in finding out who your legislator is or other legislators located within your area, you can use the Kansas Legislature's Look-Up a Legislator by name or use Plural to find your legislator by your home address.

Kansas Legislative Guide

Every year, the League produces the Kansas Legislative Guide to help member cities navigate the state and federal government. The Guide includes information pertaining to Kansas House and Senate rosters with contact information, committee membership and meeting information, contact information for your federal delegation, and effective advocacy and communication tips for working with state and federal legislators.
