Since its enactment in 1972, the Kansas Open Meetings Act (KOMA) has contained a body of standards for conducting open government meetings. It's purpose is simple yet vital: to ensure that the business of the people is conducted in the open, where citizens can remain informed and engaged. KOMA establishes minimum standards for public access, requiring that meetings of governing bodies be open to the public, with limited exceptions as allowed by law. The League is pleased to offer this updated, informative guide for policymakers, attorneys, and administrators alike. It reflects our most completed and considered advice on the Act.
