Black Hills Energy provides natural gas service to 67 communities—120,000 customers—in Kansas. Black Hills Energy helps communities achieve their sustainability goals through the development of revenue-generating renewable natural gas created by wastewater treatment plants or landfills. Our Technical Service team supports municipal-owned natural gas systems across the state with their design, construction, maintenance, and operation to alleviate resource-strapped city staff from burdensome regulation.

Kansas Municipal Utilities (KMU) is the statewide association of municipally-owned and -operated electric, gas, water, wastewater, stormwater, and telecommunications utilities across the State of Kansas. As a non-profit association established in 1928 by its member utilities, KMU is dedicated to serving the needs and interests of publicly owned- and -operated utilities for the benefit of the communities and the owner-consumers that they serve.
