MTI: Personnel Management (Core) April 6, 2022 VIRTUAL | 1-4 p.m. The government’s dedication to assuring a fair workplace has meant greater legal complexity in all aspects of supervision. This workshop will help supervisors navigate the most current legal provisions associated with the public-sector workplace and translate them into plain-English guidelines. This class will cover the basics of hiring and firing, the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Family Medical Leave Act, USERRA, the Kansas Domestic Violence Leave Act, how to write a good personnel policy, and common harassment claims.
This class is taught by the League’s Deputy General Counsel Nicole Proulx Aiken. The League’s Model Personnel Policy Handbook will be provided to all class attendees as part of the class fee.
This course will be taught live via webinar, but all pre-registered attendees will receive a copy of the video presentation and the Personnel Policy Handbook. The video will be available for registered attendees to watch after the training (you do not have to attend the live webinar to receive the information and get materials).
We encourage the following city officials attend this course: city mangers/administrators, human resource officers, and/or city clerks. This course will be submitted for IIMC credit and will be submitted for CLE credit. You must pre-register for the class by March 31, 2022.
Cancellations must be in writing and received by March 31 for your registration fee to be waived. The cancellations must be emailed to rredd@lkm.org. Phone cancellations will not be accepted. The deadline for registering for the course is Thursday, March 31 to ensure that materials can be sent via mail. The MTI will be held virtually on April 6, 022 from 1-4 p.m. Cost to attend this course is $75 for members, $100 for nonmembers. Register online at www.lkm.org/events.
