The City of Anthony, Kansas, is seeking a collaborative, community-focused professional to serve as its next City Administrator. This is a unique opportunity to lead a welcoming, resilient, and proud rural community that truly embodies the spirit of a place to call home.

The Position

Under the general direction of the City Commission, the City Administrator serves as the City’s chief administrative officer and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the city. The City Administrator implements policies established by the City Commission, provides professional guidance and recommendations, oversees City departments and staff, manages the City’s budget and finances, and ensures efficient and responsive municipal services.

In Anthony, this role is hands-on and highly visible. The successful candidate will be an approachable leader who values relationships, transparency, and service, and who is comfortable wearing multiple hats while working closely with Commissioners, staff, and residents.

With more than 30 full-time employees and an annual budget exceeding $13 million, the City of Anthony has demonstrated strong financial stewardship and proactive asset management. The city seeks a City Administrator who will continue this tradition of sound fiscal strategy, long-term planning, and operational excellence. This position also serves as the City Clerk.


The Ideal Candidate

The City of Anthony is seeking a City Administrator who:

  • Can demonstrate strong leadership skills, municipal finance experience, municipal utilities, and outstanding public relations skills
  • Is an effective communicator who builds trust with Commissioners, staff, and residents
  • Is community focused leader who will promote economic development initiatives, and is committed to transparency, service, and responsible stewardship of public resources
  • Is forward-thinking while respecting the traditions and values of a rural community

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Political Science, or a related field
  • Minimum five years’ experience in municipal or public-sector management
  • Knowledge of municipal finance, budgeting, personnel management, and public services
  • Experience working directly with elected officials and community stakeholders

Compensation

Salary is $80,000 - $120,000 depending on experience and qualifications with an excellent benefits package.
