Residents generally don’t like paying higher taxes. So how do we help voters understand the value in a tax increase without violating legal boundaries of educating versus advocating?! Johnson County, Kansas used various approaches to public information using Facebook, Twitter and Nextdoor and other tools to educate voters about a 1/4-cent sales tax increase, which passed in November 2016. They will share challenges and successes of their education campaign so you can learn from their experience.
