Sales Tax Collections with the Kansas Department of Revenue

Collecting tax from local businesses, special events, and others who do business within a city ensures fair treatment to all customers and vendors and helps the local economy. Sales tax is paid by the consumer, remitted to the state by the retailer and distributed from the state to the city and county where the sale was made. The money collected helps local schools, roads, police, fire departments, etc. and stays within the community to which it was generated. The Kansas Department of Revenue (KDOR) and the League of Kansas Municipalities will offer a free webinar to member cities to learn about KDOR services for sales tax collection including the Tax Entity Reporting, local sales tax distribution and collection, and special event tax collection for events.

The webinar will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 22. The webinar is free and for League members only. Webinar is limited to 100 participants. Register online at
