LEVEL 1

Level 1 focuses on education and the basics of city government. Courses are designed to develop and enrich expertise in fundamental areas of local governance.

Level 1 of the Municipal Leadership Academy requires 40 credits. Participants must complete 26 credits of core courses and 14 credits in elective courses.

CORE COURSES (26 credits needed)

*Civility and Public Service has replaced Guiding the Municipal Organization. Participants who have already attended Guiding the Municipal Organization will not be required to take the new course.

ELECTIVE COURSES (14 credits needed)
Each year, the Municipal Leadership Academy offers a variety of elective courses. Credit for each course will be granted based upon the subject matter and the number of hours of training offered.

CREDIT FOR OUTSIDE TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES
Up to 5 elective credits may be granted for participation in approved educational programs offered by other organizations.
