Ordinance Codification

What is ordinance codification?

Ordinance codification is the process of collecting, organizing, and publishing the ordinances for your city. The codification - or organization - of your city’s ordinances is an essential part of the governmental function. It provides both local governments and citizens with a body of current, enforceable laws, organized in a way that makes the code easy to use and reference.

How we can assist your city.

The League has over 70 years of codification experience and American Legal Publishing (ALP), the League’s Codification Program Consultant, has an outstanding history of customer service and the ability to work with cities large and small. ALP currently works with 12 other state municipal leagues as a codification or folio consultant.

ALP and the League will work with your city through each phase of the codification process. ALP will assist the League in providing timely codifications with the option to regularly supplement and publish codes online in a searchable format. League staff also reviews for any legislative changes that would require base code updates or amendments during the codification process.

ALP will be happy to provide a no-cost, no-obligation estimate based upon your city’s needs. To receive a code quote, please contact Ray Bollhauer, (800)445-5588, or Eric Smith, (785)354-9565 with any questions about the process. For more information about ALP, click here.
