The Kansas State Treasurer’s office services more than 2,200 bond issues valued at over $13 billion. Approximately $1.5 billion in principal and interest payments are paid on an annual basis to more than 32,000 bond holders. For 30 years, the Kansas State Treasurer has been the registrar of the issuance of municipal bonds. In 1975, registration of the issuance of municipal bonds was transferred to the State Treasurer when the State Auditor's office was abolished. The office is also responsible for tracking the total bond indebtedness for all entities in Kansas. County clerks report on outstanding bond debt for entities within their counties to the Treasurer’s office each year. Information about this is listed on www.KansasStateTreasurer.com.
